Bismillah · «In the name of God»

Meaning

What does Bismillah mean?

Bismillah means «in the name of God». It is pronounced before starting an action: a meal, a journey, a day, a project. It is the beginning of the basmala, «Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim» (in the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful), which opens 113 of the 114 surahs of the Quran.

What it brings to your home

In the entrance, on the dining table or in the kitchen, Bismillah accompanies everyday gestures. It invites us to begin everything with intention and serenity. A word that sets the tone of the home as soon as we enter it.
